Need new ideas?

A mini-course and guidebook to take you from “who wants to read about this?” to “I can’t wait to pitch.”

Go through multiple idea generating exercises, get feedback on your ideas, and leave with a list of stories you’re excited to sell to newspapers, blogs, and magazines.

Only $17.

You want to write, but…

  • You don’t know what editors are looking for

  • You have too many ideas or not enough (or both, which isn’t as counterintuitive as it seems)

  • You’re not sure if anyone’s going to care about your stories

Guess what? These are great problems to have.

Because you can find out what editors are looking for, easy exercises to generate new stories, and realize that many people could care about your ideas in this mini-course!

In How to Generate Sellable Story Ideas, you’ll…

  • See tons of examples of stories that recently sold (so you know the types of articles editors are looking for)

  • Go through multiple writing exercises to produce simple stories ideas (without imposter syndrome screaming “who cares about this” while you’re trying to be creative)

  • Get feedback on your ideas (and simple tweaks to take something from “too niche” to “who wouldn’t want this)

With multiple exercises to get you writing, a guide to pitching, and pages of examples of stories that sold in all niches, you’ll never run out of ideas again (okay, I can’t say never, the sun could explode and these exercises won’t work anymore, but you’ll have lots of ideas).

Plus, you’ll get personalized feedback. Just send me a few of your article ideas and you’ll have a video full of ways to improve those and future ideas.

Plus plus, you get my mini-course and downloadable guide, so you can do these exercises whenever your idea list runs low.

All in all, you’ll get…

  • A mini-course to take you through brainstorming, writing, and pitching exercises. Plus, you’ll get answers to common student questions

  • A pre-recorded 2 hour workshop to find out what editors want, brainstorm a whole crapload of new ideas, and hear expert feedback to make your stories stronger

  • A 42-page guide that takes you through all the steps you need to get your first byline

  • Five 5-Minute Exercise Videos to make writing quick, manageable, and fun.

  • 365 Days of Writing Prompts so you get a full year without the excuse “I don’t know what to write about”

  • Journaling Pages to keep your ideas organized

All for $27 $17

Fun Fact: The lowest rate a student ever got for one of their stories was $30. Most made between $100-$500 per story.

So, just one idea from this class could make you a $3 profit. Most likely, you’d get 3 to 18 times what you paid. From one idea.

FAQ

Q. When is the workshop?

A Whenever you like! You get access to the course immediately and keep it forever.

Q. I don’t have any bylines or writing experience, is this for me?

A Yes! I’ve had plenty of students sell stories to places like Thrillist, Insider, and Huffington Post with no previous writing experience. This workshop won’t teach you how to write articles, but it’s a great way to find out what editors are looking for and how to form stories that sell (even if you’ve never sold a pitch before).

Q. Is this good for fiction or screenplay ideas?

A Not really. I haven’t sold any fiction or screenplays, so I can’t promise I’d tell you anything helpful. This is great if you want to write for online publications, magazines, or newspapers.

Q. Are there any refunds?

A Nope. Sorry.

Q. I have tons of experience, will this be boring as hell?

A No! Now, if you have no trouble coming up with ideas and pitching, then you probably don’t need this workshop. But if you’d like a little help and accountability (or just want a creative boost), this can be a great way to get ideas flowing again.

Q. Who the hell are you?

A I’m Amber Petty! A freelance writer for 6 years, I’ve written for the New York Times, Parade, IFC, MTV, Bustle, Greatist, Thrillist, and Snooki’s blog (jealous?). More importantly, I’ve helped over 250 students get start writing and get their first bylines.
