As a writer or creative of any type, there's a never ending list of things you could be doing to advance. I have one really good metric to help you choose from your many ideas.

We might pitch, write our newsletters, and try to grow our audience on autopilot. That's not a problem per se, but if pitches stop working or subscribers aren't coming around, you can wind up pouring your resources into the wrong cup.

Imposter syndrome strikes us all, but it only really sucks if you let it stop you.

It's a magical marketing tool that works great for writers and doesn't make you feel like a wannabe influencer or a confused TikTok star who isn't sure what to do with the 2 million views on a video of you falling down.

Do you contemplate how can I be a writer, what do I write about, how do I start freelance writing? But, we often make it harder than it needs to be.

When things get down, I get a rejection, or something else vaguely bad happens, that "this is my life now" thought crosses my mind.

This year, so many of my students got bylines, started newsletters, and did other incredible creative things.

So, it’s time to say yay! Yay to all the students that did lovely things this year and yay that getting your work out there is always possible (and always satisfying).
