25 Random Things About Me

Sometimes, I miss the world of random fact memes. You could learn so much about people without actually talking to them!

To go back to those simple days, I thought I'd bring back an old social media classic and tell you a little bit more about me, Amber Petty.

  1. I was born in Arizona but grew up in Washington State.

  2. My favorite fruit is raspberries. Side fact: if Los Angeles has one thing over New York, it's the quality of their produce. I never had a worthwhile pint of raspberries in New York and in LA, I get them year round. Oh the bounty!

  3. I skipped 8th grade (but still had to take 8th grade health)

  4. I lived in a windowless room for three years. No, it's not some scary Room-esque story, it's the reality of Manhattan living.

  5. In second grade, I spoke in an Irish accent all day to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. Miraculously, I was not beaten by my fellow students.

  6. Once, I cranked up my "Phantom of the Opera" tape to drown out the Spice Girls concert my sisters were watching. I thought I was making the classy choice.

  7. I beat Donald Glover, aka Grammy winner Childish Gambino, in a freestyle rap battle. Granted, it was a rap battle for comedians, but I still won. What I have not won - a Grammy Award.

  8. For a few months I wrote for Snooki’s blog.

  9. On election night 2016, I substitute taught a musical improv class. After the class break and realization that Trump won, I had to get the class back to making up Verse/Chorus songs. Lesson learned: Trump’s election did not inspire comedy!

  10. I wrote the emails for a makeup launch that made over $100,000 in the middle of a pandemic.

  11. I've been paid to do improv for drunk college students at a midnight party. The show ended when the audience left.

  12. In 3rd grade, I made some jewelry from a craft mold and gave it to a couple of friends. So many people wanted this weird jewelry that I started charging a nickel a piece. I made over $2 before the teacher told me that hawking necklaces wasn’t allowed at school.

  13. I've never been listed in any kind of "Best of..." list.

  14. My favorite show is still The Simpsons. My brain is at least half Simpsons quotes.

  15. My favorite movie, by far, is This is Spinal Tap.

  16. My dream role is Mrs. Lovett from Sweeney Todd.

  17. I was 19 when I started teaching Voice and Speech at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City.

  18. I taught Julia Garner (from Ozark) in a Voice and Speech class when she was just a kid. My teaching had no influence on her career.

  19. Moving from Puyallup, WA to New York City was not a hard adjustment. Moving from New York City to Los Angeles at 30 was incredibly hard. It was like I moved to Mars.

  20. I think Burbank is far superior to Hollywood. That's probably not a real hot take, but it's how I feel.

  21. For my wedding, I walked down the aisle to a pretty piano version of "Penny for Your Thoughts" from Waiting For Guffman.

  22. Someone’s made a fan drawing of me! Not inspired by any of my theater or TV work, but from a YouTube show I co-host for work.

  23. My high school boyfriend broke up with me after I kissed him on the cheek. He said he wasn't ready for a "physical relationship."

  24. One job needed 5 sales pages, three email sequences, a few Facebook ads, and a short video script written for them. Originally, another writer said they’d need 5 weeks to finish all that. I did it in 5 days.

  25. The word "amber" means "a jewel" and "petty" means "of little importance." Basically, I'm a worthless jewel!

There's your 25 random facts. Honestly, if you've read through all these, you probably know more about me than many of my friends.
